Being subjective as the definition is, a mid-century classic car can be all of these things, none of these things, or so much more. To muddy the waters even further, we have to consider that often times what makes a classic car a classic is nothing more than consumer demand. Perhaps it's a starring role in a Hollywood movie; perhaps it's the desire of driving your Dad's most treasured favorite; or perhaps someone just stumbled upon a particular model and decided it should be included as a classic car. Many times we don’t know a classic car will become a classic until the market decides it will be. For the mid-century classic cars of the 1950's, there are still clear favorites like the fifties Chevrolet pickup trucks, the woody wagons (from a variety of makers), Jeeps, Wallys, Ford T-Birds, and the Chevrolet Bel Air. As we move into the sixties the muscle cars move in, eventually giving way later in the century to more sleekly-styled sports cars. At times it's a quandary, but it's exciting nonetheless, and it's always fun to be on this end of the Florida classic car business where we can monitor trends and help buyers get in while the getting is still good.
