Following World War II, Buick continued to be extremely popular with Americans, who could afford the prestige that owning a new Buick Station Wagon brought. The 1952 Buick Super Estate Wagon was built on the Series 50 Chassis and resembled the Series 40, with three vent ports per side and the new “Sweepspear” rocker panel trim. The Supers were built with the larger GM “C-body” and not the smaller “B-body” of the Special. The full flowing fenderline dipped deeper on this body and the rear fenders had a crease line that was absent on the “B-body”. The Super’s instrument panel also differed from the Special, having a centrally located speedometer that was flanked by smaller gauge housings. They were powered by an inline eight cylinder engine, with 263.3 cubic inches of displacement, that produce 120 bhp at 3600 RPM. The three speed column shifted transmission was standard but, the Series 50 could be ordered with the optional Dyna-Flow automatic transmission. When the $193.00 Dyna-Flow was selected, the engine compression ratio was increased to 7.2:1, which increased the bhp to 128. All Estate Wagons were hand made by the Ionia Body Company of Michigan, who had been doing so for Buick since 1949. Our 1952 Estate Wagon is one of only 1,641, Series 50 Wagon built that year. It is powered by the inline eight cylinder engine and Dyna-Flow transmission combination, which gives it the higher compression ratio and increased bhp. It has a tan interior, with a fold down rear seat, and the optional electric clock. The exterior is finished in medium green paint and the wood trim is done in the original two tone scheme. Are you ready to own a Buick? We love this body style, the next to last year for the Buick woodies. Having been in the owners private Museum collection, this is being offered for purchase for the first time in many years. The prognosis for the collectible woodie stationwagons is very strong. When new, they were unique, now they are iconic. The future is bright for the appreciation potential for these wonderful automobiles .
